What does Yarrow Essential oil help with?
White Yarrow ( Achillea millefolium ) is a well-known herb with fine feathery leaves and small white flowers. It has been used in Bulgarian folk medicine for centuries for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
It contains essential oils, flavonoids and tannins that help restore irritated or sensitive skin.
Yarrow Essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves and flowers of the plant and can be used as a:
- Toner for oily and acne-prone skin - The ingredients in yarrow help regulate sebum, tighten pores and relieve inflammation;
- Antiseptic oil for minor wounds, bites and inflammations - Yarrow oil aids in disinfection and soothes inflamed tissue;
- Massage oil for muscle and joint pain - Relieves tension and inflammation in the muscles and joints.
How do i use Yarrow Essential oil?
1. As a toner for oily and acne-prone skin
- Mix 1-2 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of hydrosol ( e.g. lavender or chamomile ) or carrier oil ( jojoba );
- Dip a cotton swab into the mixture;
- Apply to clean skin in the evening, avoiding the eye area.
2. As an antiseptic oil for minor wounds, bites and inflammations
- Mix 1 drop of oil with 1 tsp calendula or St. John's wort oil;
- Apply gently to the cleaned area with a cotton pad;
- Repeat 1-2 times daily as needed.
3. As a massage oil for muscle and joint pain
- Mix 4-5 drops of oil with 2 tablespoons of base oil ( e.g. sesame or arnica );
- Massage the affected area with circular motions;
- If necessary, cover with a warm compress for additional effect.
