Thyme ( Thymus vulgaris ) is a small evergreen plant with small leaves and a rich aroma. The thymol variety is particularly rich in the natural phenol thymol - an active ingredient with powerful antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects.

 

Thyme Thymol Essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the flowers and can be used as a:

 

  • Cleansing serum for problem skin - Thymol limits the development of bacteria and fungi while reducing inflammation;
  • Additive to a toner or micellar water for acne - Helps shrink pores and regulate oiliness;
  • Scalp therapy for dandruff or irritation - Thymol acts against fungi that cause dandruff;
  • Gargle for aphthae and inflamed gums - The antiseptic effect of thymol soothes irritations and promotes healing.

 

How do i use Thyme Thymol Essential oil?

 

1. As a cleansing serum for problem skin

 

As a cleansing serum for problem skin

 

  1. Mix 1 drop of thyme essential oil thymol with 1 tsp carrier oil ( e.g. jojoba or grapeseed );
  2. Mix well and apply topically to affected areas;
  3. Use in the evening, 2-3 times a week.

 

2. As an additive to a toner or micellar water for acne

 

As an additive to a toner or micellar water for acne

 

  1. Add 1 drop of essential oil to 50 ml of floral water ( e.g. lavender or witch hazel );
  2. Shake well before each use;
  3. Apply with a cotton pad to cleansed skin in the morning and evening.

 

3. As a scalp therapy for dandruff or irritation

 

As a scalp therapy for dandruff or irritation

 

  1. Mix 3 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of base oil ( e.g. castor or argan );
  2. Rub gently into your scalp and leave it on for 30 minutes;
  3. Wash with a gentle shampoo. Repeat 1-2 times a week.

  1. Dissolve 1 drop of essential oil in 1 tsp honey or alcohol;
  2. Add the mixture to a glass of warm water and stir;
  3. Rinse your mouth for 30 seconds without swallowing up to 2 times a day.
