What does Wild Mint Essential oil help with?
Wild Mint ( Mentha arvensis ) is an aromatic herb with characteristic mossy leaves and a refreshing minty aroma. Grown in India, it has been used for centuries in herbal medicine for its rich content of menthol - a substance with cooling, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.
Wild Mint Essential oil is extracted from the leaves of the plant and can be used as a:
- Tonic for oily and problematic skin - The oil shrinks pores, regulates oiliness and limits the development of bacteria;
- Additive to a scalp mask against dandruff and oiliness - Soothes itching, refreshes and reduces the fungi responsible for dandruff;
- Cooling gel for legs and tired areas - Refreshes, reduces swelling and stimulates blood circulation;
- Antiseptic lotion for problem areas - Suitable for topical treatment of pimples, bites or minor irritations.
How do i use Wild Mint Essential oil?
1. As a toner for oily and problematic skin
- Mix 2 drops of essential oil with 1 tbsp. floral water ( e.g. witch hazel or lavender );
- Shake well and apply with a cotton pad to a cleansed face;
- Use in the morning and/or evening as part of your skincare routine.
2. As an addition to a scalp mask against dandruff and oiliness
- Add 1 drop of wild mint oil to 1 tbsp of clay or natural scalp mask;
- Mix well and apply evenly to your scalp;
- Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
3. As a cooling gel for feet and tired areas
- Mix 3 drops of essential oil with 1 tbsp. aloe vera gel;
- Stir until a homogeneous mixture is obtained;
- Rub into the skin with light massage movements - especially suitable in the evening after a busy day.
4. As an antiseptic lotion for problem areas
- Mix 1 drop of essential oil with 1 tsp. carrier oil ( e.g. jojoba or tamanu );
- Apply carefully only to the problem area using a cotton swab or cotton pad;
- Apply 1-2 times daily until your skin calms down.
